General Information

Noak Hill Archers is a private members only sports club providing the opportunity for any adult, who can meet the criteria, to take up the sport of archery in all it’s modern, ancient and traditional forms. This includes field, target, roving and clout archery. However, since the implementation of recent confusing and contradictory legislation we have discontinued the use of crossbows. The club is affiliated to all the major archery governing bodies such as the GNAS, NFAS and EFAA. It should be noted that Noak Hill Archers is an adult only club and therefore does not take people under 18 years of age, unless the parent is an established archer and or a current member, provided the child is over 10 years of age.

Shooting

Our official club target days are Wednesdays and Sundays. However, we are very lucky in that we have access to our ground 365 days of the year. Because of this, you may find that we have archers shooting most days of the week. Many of our archers choose to shoot in competitions throughout the year. These range from short distance indoor competitions to the longest rounds and distances. Other archers just choose to shoot once or twice a week and enjoy the atmosphere and clean fresh air (well, as clean as it gets in Essex). We have archers that shoot a variety of bow disciplines, from very traditional bows right up to high precision compounds.

Coaching

We have a very able coaching team at Noak Hill Archers, all of whom are always more than happy to give assistance when it is requested, if archers are experiencing difficulties. They are also available (upon request) for formal coaching as well as providing Beginners Courses for those that are new to the sport. (See Beginners Courses section for more information)

Juniors

We do not have a junior archer contingent, as such, at Noak Hill. There are already a number of clubs around that have junior sections (one or two are quite large) and so we didn’t feel that it was necessary for us to cater for that type of archer. However, we do have juniors within the club that have joined with their parents or other family members.
